Great changes started 1st January 1998 when the school became autonomous.
The school has got more freedom in management and decision - making.
On the other hand, we have more responsibility in dealing with problems
like - law, methodology, finances and social problems. That is why
the organization of the life at our school is more effective.
At the end of school year 1999/2000 our school was chosen along with
150 schools in Slovakia for Infovek project. At that time we realized
that except of language teaching we have to offer more possibilities
            to our students.
In the year 2000/2001 our children started computer studies and they
use Internet. We decided to make PC classroom and the pupils may use it.
The teachers use computers for teaching subjects.
Our third priority is to support and develop the pupils' ability in sport.
We would like to reopen our handball club, which was very successful in the past.

Language teaching
From 1991/1992 we started to teach English from 1st class as optional subject.
We organize language classes in 3rd class after passing exams. From 5th class
students may study 2nd language. Students who are language talented may study
3rd language from 7th class again as optional subject. We offer teaching
following languages - English, German, French and Russian.
A great motivation for the pupils was a visit of Mr. Clark from Florida
in 1999/1991 who has taught in the school for 4 month. His friendly style
meant that pupils lost their fear of communication. They were proud that
they were able to understand to stranger. From that time we had visitors
from Chicago in 2001 - Mr. and Mrs. Longfellow, Duns in Scotland in 2003 -
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor. Children were absolutely excited because Mr. Taylor
            was worn a kilt.
In the school year 1993/1994 some students were in London. They spent
ten days there and could compare our school day with school day in UK.

Our teachers do a lot of activities to make lessons interesting. One of
favorite activity is creative writing. It helps the students to learn how
to work with different types of dictionaries and it raises their vocabulary.
We do drama in the afternoon and it is good fun. Children read magazines -
Friendship, Hello in English, Hurra in German and L'amitie in French.
Our English teacher has created materials for teachers in our district -
Festivals and Celebrations in UK and USA, Phrasal verbs, Abbreviations,
Creative writing. The pupils use to go to Paris and to visit this beautiful
town. French teacher spent one month in Paris and Grenoble, German teacher
has been to Dusseldorf to Goethe Institute.

Computer studies
Project Infovek Slovakia, which is gestured by ministry of education,
aims to install into all the basic and secondary schools Internet and
wants to expand the possibilities in educational process. Project Infovek
has woken us up in expanding our wills, which were joined by whole
pedagogical collective, but even most of the parents.
Based on our project we were placed on 68-th position from 500 projects
by commission of ministry of education. Our computer room was built up
only from our own resources, based on bought computers to school. Now
we have computers from our sponsors as well.
In our computer room there are many interesting advertisements, panels
together with painting from millennium age. Our pupils may work in computer
room in the morning till beginning lessons, in the afternoon and during
lessons with teachers. Children from kindergarten have their timetable
            for visiting our computer room.
All pedagogical colleagues participate in basic training on PC, so they
will be able to use all the benefits of computer room (working with
pedagogical documents, statistics, creating exams, working materials
for pupils, applying information from CD-ROM for pupils needs… In the
afternoon hours we are planning to make "Internet Café" for teachers so
they can exchange their knowledge with their colleagues and use this
new information to work with Internet and PC. We plan to offer our PC
classroom for parents of our pupils, too.

Sport
Even though our school doesn't have classical sport area, our pupils
have good results in competitions. In the years 1995/1999 we had boy
handball team. The girls played basketball. We had excellent results
in handball, football, cross - country race, table - tennis and athletics.
The pupils in 3rd class and 4th class have swimming training, in 7th
class skiing training. Every 3rd pupil does some sport. It is tradition
to make ice rink on our playground in winter. Sometimes it is problem
            because of money.
Except of above-mentioned sports our pupils do other sports and they
            are excellent.
